The Truth About Cats and Dogs in Black and White

Truth is just one person's reality. Here is mine in black and white (maybe some shades of gray). This blog has little to do with Cats or Dogs - just humourous sarcastic antics about my life or occasionally, someone else's. You know, intercepting volleyballs with my face, egg dropping, etc. The truth has seen some changes and in fluidity with change expect to see more artistic expressions posting up - so give your two cents worth!

My seduction style...who knew?

Your Seduction Style: Sweet Talker

Your seduction technique can be summed up with "charm"
You know that if you have the chance to talk to someone...
Well, you won't be talking for long! ;-)

You're great at telling potential lovers what they want to hear.
Partially, because you're a great reflective listener and good at complementing.
The other part of your formula? Focusing your conversation completely on the other person.

Your "sweet talking" ways have taken you far in romance - and in life.
You can finess your way through any difficult situation, with a smile on your face.
Speeding tickets, job interviews... bring it on! You truly live a *charmed life*

Fitness of the minds

In the 2006 conservative budget, parents were given a tax break for the fees of children's organized sporting activities - a fitness tax credit. I was intrigued by a petition looking to afford equal opportunity to those children participating in organized arts, dance, visual arts, music, and drama. I had assumed that "Dance" was included in the fitness credit and can not find any information to contradict this assumption.

Then I thought, what about our future geeks? What about science camp fees? Math league? It's all fitness of the mind isn't it? Then I realised somethingthting else. Someone missed the bus, the boat had left the dock, the train the station, the plane had taken off.

This tax break wasn't about helping out the common folk it was about relieving the future burden on our healthcare system. And that's a good thing - long over due. The bus, er, I mean point - was preventative healthcare and attacking the growing obesity and health crisis. Sure lack of artistic stimulation may lead to grey monochromatic lives and eventually kill us, who knows? But not so much as lack of physical activity. It's about time someone started looking at recreation as preventative medicine instead of a waste of time.

A long wait for details...

Jill Day observed as you have seen was a riot. I had been waiting for more pics from Georgestreet but decided to post without, since at 30 I may not remember the details much longer.

Jill Day began with pizza as every good day should. Pizza and good friends, my best friends minus 3. My seasell was here for the weekend, her first trip to Newfoundland and she brought 3 generations of Sanfords with her to celebrate her first Mother's Day, of course she was a little hung over for it and I may or may not have fallen asleep during Mother's Day dinner.

Back to the party. Who knew that back at Acadia the twins has walked seashell and I home. And who knew that I could be so unruly that I was flung over one of their backs and delivered to my residence? Who knew? Seashell knew! So there were stories. and dip. and oodles of sangria. and bottles of Masi Soave. and a screech in. Yes there were bad accents, cod kissing, and screech shooting. And there was laughing, some at, some with. So much that cheeks were hurting and abs were cramping. I should add that it is a miracle anyone found the party as I totally sent invites with the wrong freakin address - dummy.

Then we were transported to visit George. Georgestreet is the oldest, longest, street of bars in North America and definitely the "funnest" party on any given night. I counted once...72 pubs, clubs, dives, and bars on one cobblestone street. We began at "Lotties," the unofficial off-campus bar and the "home of the white Russian" where we learned a secret about the WRs that can not be divulged. We were not there long....well it didn't seem long, enough for two WRs and a couple dances. Then it was off to the Scumdance...I mean Sundance, the meat market of all meat markets but at least it was appropriately aged. And miraculously I only saw one ex - a new minimum record.

I was counting on getting id'd at the Sundance, but alas i made it through my first birthday without being carded. I figure 30 years was a good run. You can, however, always count on meeting old friends, old acquaintances and new acquaintances at the Sundance. And she held true. There were old acquaintances on the dance floor and pictures to prove it - coming later. There were also new french acquaintances. I'm freaking bilingual! Who knew? Oh yes, I chatted my little heart out. Even had them joining us for afterhours. But then gears changed again.

On our after closing time stroll down George (now 3:30 am) we were heckled by some young gentleman. The girls flanking either side of me were quick to say "we're married." To which I replied "hey thanks for helping a single girl out." Next thing were are walking linked arms on our way to an afterhours at Junctions. I mean have I not learned my lesson about 20 year olds? Anyway, along our travels to Junctions we ran into some recent acquaintances. The girls chatted and the young'uns decided they were not impressed with my married friends who were trying to pick up. To which I chuckled loudly. There are not two more happily married that I can think of. So I said, "you moron (without the moron remark) she is married to my brother!" Obviously youth still has him believing that the only reason to go DT is to get laid. So which ditched the young'uns and opt'ed for the more mature recent acquaintances.
We made it home, safe and sound at around 5am.

I survived Jill Day Observed.

That's the latest bumper sticker. Thank you to all those who observed Jill Day or sent their wishes. Details will follow but the Grey's Anatomy finale is on tonight and I just don't have time to fill you in on all the hilarious antics. I'm a little too enthralled in this whole season finale business...it gonna be a doozie. I will, however, leave you with a little teazer.

For more silly antics check out the Jill Day Observed Photo Album.

Friday

Well it seems that the blogging community has lots going on on Fridays. Let's see. There is Flash Fiction Friday, Illustration Friday, and Photo Friday... and perhaps there are more... poetic friday? porn friday? limerick friday? haiku friday?

So this is my announcment that I am going to rotate a little photo friday and illustration friday, not today, as today's cruel and ironic topic was "fat" for illustration friday and "adolescence" for photo friday. One I have gained...the other I have lost. No fiction however, when I'm not writing, I don't want to write. I'm all about visuals. Another "what do I do" revelation. I recognise good aesthetics. In everything - people, landscapes, buildings, nature, everydays things. I'm good with layout and colour I suppose and have obviously missed my calling about 20 gizillion and 47 thousands hundred times.

One more thing... where on earth is the Brit? I am utterly disappointed that I have lost a fan.

MAY DAY! MAY DAY!

maRadio City

Holy crap! I just realised that it's May. Already! How did this happen? Well folks t minus 29 days and counting. And what the hell is beeping in my house? So, May is indeed the craziest of all months. The kids still have a week here, then my best friend comes, then there is Jill day and Jill day observed, Mother's day, May 2-4, so far one job interview, and two pending being screened in, a presentation, a government report, and the thesis (see t minus 29 days) and old friends returning to the rock, and all my other usual daily distractions...ARGH...that May. Alas, there are not enough days in May. Hmmm...it will soon be time for a distress call, me thinks. MAY DAY! MAY DAY!

Going through the Motions

Ok, seriously, how many of you actually brush your teeth in a figure 8 motion? Do you even know how you brush your teeth. Now that I am making a conscious effort in the motion of my teeth brushing, teeth brushing has become much more challenging. The figure 8 motion is ridiculously difficult to master. Try it. Go on. Now. Should dental hygiene require this much coordination?
