The Truth About Cats and Dogs in Black and White
Truth is just one person's reality. Here is mine in black and white (maybe some shades of gray). This blog has little to do with Cats or Dogs - just humourous sarcastic antics about my life or occasionally, someone else's. You know, intercepting volleyballs with my face, egg dropping, etc. The truth has seen some changes and in fluidity with change expect to see more artistic expressions posting up - so give your two cents worth!

Fitness of the minds
In the 2006 conservative budget, parents were given a tax break for the fees of children's organized sporting activities - a fitness tax credit. I was intrigued by a petition looking to afford equal opportunity to those children participating in organized arts, dance, visual arts, music, and drama. I had assumed that "Dance" was included in the fitness credit and can not find any information to contradict this assumption.
Then I thought, what about our future geeks? What about science camp fees? Math league? It's all fitness of the mind isn't it? Then I realised somethingthting else. Someone missed the bus, the boat had left the dock, the train the station, the plane had taken off.
This tax break wasn't about helping out the common folk it was about relieving the future burden on our healthcare system. And that's a good thing - long over due. The bus, er, I mean point - was preventative healthcare and attacking the growing obesity and health crisis. Sure lack of artistic stimulation may lead to grey monochromatic lives and eventually kill us, who knows? But not so much as lack of physical activity. It's about time someone started looking at recreation as preventative medicine instead of a waste of time.

Comments...
Recretion is something that has been overlooked in the school system for a long time. The key, I think, is to get those geeks who would rather sit in front of their computers than do any type of physical activity to get in shape. That being said, I can see the point of the petition writers as I was a drama/music/dance girl myself. And those things have also been cut to death in the formal education system.
