This blog has little to do with Cats or Dogs - just humourous sarcastic antics about my life or occasionally, someone else's. You know, intercepting volleyballs with my face, egg dropping, etc. The truth has seen some changes and in fluidity with change expect to see more artistic expressions posting up - so give your two cents worth!

Vlad does not = Dracula

This actually Dr. Elizabeth Miller's page. I good source for all things Dracula. Fascinating reading. I strongly aver that the actual historical events from the 15th and 16th century in Eastern Europe are far more interesting and horrifying than anything published by Bram Stoker. Particularly the life of Vlad Tepes (a.k.a. Vlad the III, a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler). There are some great documents to be found at this site. I wouldn't read them before bedtime!

Elizabeth Miller is recognized internationally for her expertise on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula – its origins in folklore, literature and history, as well as its influence on twentieth-century culture. She has lectured on the subject throughout Canada (including presentations for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Stratford Festival and CBC-TV’s “Opening Night”), as well as in the United States, England, Ireland, Germany, Poland and Romania.

Nice link. Like most people I had always believed Dracula to be based on Vlad the Impaler.

Its a little disappointing that he's not, but Vlad actually sounds worse!

Don't worry about the anonymity thing, I sort of knew that I wasn't really anonymous. I don't actually like putting my foot in it, it just seems to happen!

Well at least you know you Vlad the Impaler is, I imagine many do not. Yes Vlad did some things far more treacherous than biting necks. And I am sure there are many restless souls roaming about in Transylvannia.

I'm a web designer / programmer and I have several projects that I am meant to be working on, but lately I rarely am. This blog business has become something of an addiction, I have about ten tabs open in Firefox and everytime I become bored or stuck I refresh them all and read them all.

Fortunately I work from home and vastly exaggerate how long it takes me do things, so I have gotten away with it so far. But I am trying to cut down!

I bet your log book consists of lots of "market research." That is what I would call it anyway. I do my share of that stuff!

I can not imagine having to work with html all day...the designing part I could deal with, you know point and click for dummies. But it nearly killed me just to create the blog template!

I'll have to remember that market research line! Fortunately I don't have a log book, they seem to trust me to get the work done(fools!)

Working from home is just too distracting, I shouldn't really do it as I don't have the discipline.

I don't work with HTML much, I use a "point and click for dummies" as you put it, called Dreamweaver, which basically does everything for you. It is rare that I have to look at the HTML.

I noticed that your blog was different to others, most of which seem to be the same designs over and over.

Did you do it all yourself? Nice going it looks really good.

I do love point and click technology.

Well to be honest, I took the most basic template and rearranged things. When I first started the blog I had a cookie cutter template as well and had never used html so I got used to it. In the New Year I took a day and redesigned it. It basically consisted of a lot of page refreshing.

Working in an office can be rather distracting as well. Damn extended coffee breaks, Monday morning catch-ups, round tables, Oprah, Survivor, Lost, House, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy...don't think I missed any of the major distractions...oh wait...the web. How could I forget the web with it's delightful assortment of blogs, sites, IM, and multiple e-mail checkings. The distractions of the modern office environment.
